Was thinking they would fight the Chu longer but it was essentially a set up (put a timer on Zhao coz we can't be there forever, future Wei domination, set up Kanmei v2.0 for Moubu in the Chu showdown).

Kan Ki sure is sexy (last page of 692 is nsfw). Wonder if Kouchou actually is downed here though...

Wow, tht's fast. But yeah, juuko arc was like a breather from zhao, since we already had big campaign there. Also gave hara time to showcase a bit of Gou hou mei since future wei campaigns can't have tons of people coming out of nowhere. So, he got to establish and show growth of him here. Manu' in a sense is ideal rival for moubu , who both had different results from their heroic acts.

Kingdom is the type of manga that 40 chaps per day is very achievable.

I was interested to see what Man'u and Ka Rin would talk about... and also Ri Boku with Shi Ba Shou. Just a chapter of conversations would've been enough.

It's frustrating how we don't know much about Kan Ki (how he handled Raido's death) from this, which is good writing I guess. Really interested in what Ri Boku gleamed from the battle against Kei Sha.

In my opinion, the mysterious Kanki weakness has something to do with how he is always aiming for the enemy's Supreme Commander head. Basically, he doesn't exactly know how to defeat an army, he only knows how to defeat a man.

He was sent away on to chase fleeing zhao all up to the heiyou castle with orders from kanki along with his entire army bar injured.

It makes sense tho. The author did foreshadow that something would happen in this campaign, and I was just expecting Kanki to run away. But this is far more serious.

Marron is freaking out while making sense of what it means for the King to bring his army there rather than calling Kanki back to Kanyou. He thinks if it was about a victory then there would be no need for this so it's for sure about the surrendered soldiers. He asks the messenger how many are with the king and he reports tens of thousands. Marron knows the king is going to kill them. The messenger then says the king's messenger is waiting for a reply and asks what he should tell them. Marron says to tell them that they will come out to meet them so they can slow their march and that it'll take a while to get the spot ready since they just finished the battle. He then tells another soldier to get the boss, Kokuou and Ringyoku as well as the Zenou and Shuma clans along with anyone who's good at fighting.

Sei's Army:
Sei receives a report saying Kanki will come out to meet them instead and SBK says it's an easy place for Kanki's troops to set up and Sei says he figured this would happen and tells his army to be prepared. They get into formations. The narration says the Shiji records indicates that after Kanki's victory over Kochou the Qin King has personally set forth all the way there.

Meeting Place:
As the King's entourage approaches the table Kanki is sitting with his feet on the table. SBH gets furious asking Kanki what's with his posture. Marron tries to tell Kanki he shouldn't do that then after another outburst from SBH Sei tells him to stop since he knows Kanki is not one to show respect to anyone. After sitting Sei asks Kanki if he knows why he's here. He then says he'll get straight to the point and asks what happened that Kanki executed the surrendered soldiers. Kanki replies it's simply because he wanted to. Sei says killing without a reason is something that is banned in military law so whether he's a general or not that's not a good enough reason. If he answers unsatisfyingly again then following his explanation Kanki will be beheaded right on the spot. Sei then says he's different from Kanki so his words are not a joke and tells him to reply. Kanki says he forgot.

Sei says he got it then tells Hyoushiga to kill Kanki. As he approaches Kanki Kokuou interferes and says they won't be getting out of this alive either. Sei says that kind of threat cannot prevent this and Kokuou tells Kanki to run as she blocks the attack with her life. Marron jumps in asking to wait and Hyoushiga stops his sword before killing Kokuou. Sei asks why and Marron says there's a reasonable explanation for this. He quickly introduces himself as Kanki's entourage then switches it to his soldier and says he can explain. SBK tells him to hurry up and that they should've done that from the beginning.

Marron explains that it's because they believed there was a chance that the Kochou army would win despite surrendering. After the miracle of their victory that they achieved by spreading false rumors of reinforcements coming in from Ousen's and Yotanwa's armies they knew that if word spread that there were no actual reinforcements and the number advantage was overwhelmingly in Kochou's army's favor then they would have lost despite their runaway troops returning. That's why they couldn't help taking down the Zhao's numbers even if he didn't want to. Sei then asks if that was the only way they could have handled it and if complete annihilation was really necessary. He then says that if that were really the case then they could have thinned down the Zhao to a number they could handle rather than a complete massacre.

Marron says that's right and Sei says the Kanki army has killed too many people who didn't have to die. Kanki starts chuckling and asks Sei if he's upset with the number of people Kanki has killed. He then says the one who started the war was Sei and that right now the one who has killed the most people in this world is him, the Qin King.

Yeah, I read the spoiler. Kanki as expected doesn't give 0 fucks abt it. But, was quite good to see sei having no nonsense attitude and ready to kill one of his GG and fighting force without a shred of hesitation.

If not for marron, this would have turned out in an all out war between kanki and emperor's army.

I look forward to dialogue between kanki and sei. Sei is really establishing himself as a strong emperor here, so I look forward to how he handles the ensuing difference of opinion.

I wish we can get done with Zhao quickly. I am really sick of them because everytime they seem to have some capable generals coming out of nowhere. Normally, it should be only Riboku and his gang + Shibashou. But I am fairly sure there will be another unknown general coming out of nowhere who will prove to be an extreme challenge to Qin.

Well man, historically speaking, this one was the longest campaign of qin. So, we r far from over, but we will be getting wars vs diff states until war with zhao is completely done in. Now it will be RBK vs kanki's decisive match. Post which, we may get focus on diff state, once again returning to Zhao to deliver tht final blow.. But I get it, new ones coming out left and right out of nowhere is really annoying , but this time would be giving benefit of doubt because royal kantan army had not participated in previous battle.
And tbh, they need some new besides shibashou because as always kaine and futei r going to be disappointment and likely to embarass (quote from @Aizen ). Shunsuijuu can carry a bit on his own, everything up to old bananji , kisui and Shibashou. So, most likely they will bring in some new ones citing this is their home country and thus they kept them hidden.

Looks like Gi'an will be the Russian winter Qin are not prepared for. Maybe this is the arc where Shin starts to wear more clothes(lol)? In chapter 1 he is in full armour, maybe the cold is what changes his design.

Predictions/hopes: I fully believe in Shi Ba Shou. Someone has to have Ri Boku's back for a change. Ri Boku will crush Kan Ki, then it goes to Ou Sen et al vs Ri Boku et al. The new generals (Shin, Mou Ten and Ou Hon) will go up against Shi Ba Shou. Zhao has to be conquered and Ri Boku killed. There's enough death flags on Ri Boku's head now too, like the somewhat shoujo moments with Kaine (she was even cute in these scenes, I was disgusted by the thought). Shoujo moments portend demise for Kingdom characters. Except for Kyou Kai, she gets another life. Speaking of, be nice if Kyou Kai is unleashed more as a commander given Shin is a general.

Pretty psyched for the arc tbh, especially if Kantan stays tf out of it.

I just spent the past one and a half months binging this manga, and wow. What a read. I just got caught up now, reading the latest chapter out (705), it's a really stellar read.
Kinda sad that my binge is over I spent all of Saturday night/Sunday morning reading the Zhao invasion arc, that was one hell of an arc. Easily the best arc in the story.
My favorite characters are Ei Sei, Mou Ten, Yo Tanwa, Ou Ki and Kan Ki. The manga has a lot of characters, but those 5 are my most fun to follow in the whole series.
Now time to backread this thread from page 1 and see what previous discussions were like

A friend of mine kept on bugging me to read it, telling me to read the first 10 chapters. I told them Im not touching a series thats 700 chapters long, it would take years to complete it
But in the end I caved in because he was so persistent. It's actually his favorite ongoing series, he keeps on trying to get people to read it.
I read the first 100 chapters, instantly liked Ouki and Tanwa. Especially Ouki, I couldnt get over his big lips
And then I read through the rest pretty fast, Im actually intending on rereading it soon. Like chunks of the story. Of course there are bits I found a bit boring/tiresome to read through? Like the second arc with Duke Hyou. Or even the politics arcs sometimes, they get really tedious to read. I'm like GET BACK TO THE BATTLES I WANT TO SEE PEOPLE MAKING STRATEGIES AND STUFF!!
Overall it is a very solid read. Easily among the top 5 manga Im reading currently.

I am happy you enjoyed it, Kingdom is so epic.

Normal battles (Outside super powers) have no business being that epic. I was actually surprised at how much I found myself enjoying it. I even put every other manga I was reading on hold to finish it. It was THAT good.
