Sup everyone. Anyone else excited about this? I am. To be honest the only other OP film I have watched is the one with Shiki. I don't usually watch anime but I am really thinking about watching this. My prediction is that it will be mostly a flashback for Shanks sometime after Roger's execution I think. The girl in the pic might be Lunarian but probably not because they are supposed to have darker or black wings. Maybe her wings are black but the trailer portrayed it in a different way. Skypeans have smaller wings so either those are A. Props B. Lunarian C. Unknown race or D. DF.
I predict most of the movie like 95% of it is an epic flashback. It starts in present day OP and Shanks is somewhere blah blah and someone tells him blah blah and boom Flashback. And at the end of the flashback and movie he recounts all the deeds Luffy has been through in the last several years and this trigger sequences of memorable moments in time such as Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Summit War, etc. til present day. Finally Shanks glances at the latest Morgans fueled headlines (thanks Apoo!) And smiles at the fact that Luffy took down Kaido. Then he tells his crew, It's time (to meet Luffy again). Roll credits.
Basically I want the movie to just be a story for Shanks. No Strawhats. Just this dude that gets barely any screentime in the story even though his character is so critical to the story as a whole. Shanks deserves this. We do not need this movie to focus on the SH and this would really provide some great fanservice as well as showing us nice Shanks lore. Maybe it will answer some questions on why he can just meet with the 5 elder stars. Truly, I only want Luffy to appear at the very end the way I predicted. What do you guys think?

Well it seems he's going to have some role to play in it, but I doubt it'll be to whatever level fan expectation is at.

Yeah, pretty sure Shanks has a role, but it is not going to be his full backstory revealed like I've seen some people expect.

With the "Luffy, quit being a pirate line" text combined with the half-red hair, my initial guess is that this girl is someone who also met Shanks as a child and was inspired to become a pirate and Shanks' successor. Fueled by jealousy and envy, she likely thinks Luffy is either unworthy successor for Shanks, or thinks she would be better follower for Shanks. The movie climax will be something along the lines "Luffy: I won't succeed Shanks, I'll surpass him".

Let's see how well that holds, might be completely false

Who knows...the only thing we do know is he gave her up for some reason at some point. Also what we do know is this one other person did the same thing in his crew: Yassop. He left Usopp to head out to sea to be a great warrior lol. Is this something the Red Hairs do? Maybe they all had a good reason. Afterall, you are endangering your kid if he or she is travelling with your band of pirating criminals. Better off leaving them someplace safe if you love them...although that means you shouldn't have had the kid to begin with lol.
