What a fantastic manga!! Kaoru Mori should have to be like an anthropologist mixed with a high quality novelist and with a very skilled drawer... She just should have to do such a deep investigation to be able to write something like this. You can fully understand something that different to our civilization like the love between a 12/13 years old boy and a beautiful lady in those plains from the XIX century Turkey. The sensibilities, the mentality, the signs and gestures, the passions.
I just enjoyed all the stories. The main one and the side stories. The main story is so well accomplished. On one side you have all the delicacy of the love between Karluk and Amir, and in the same story something that crude and real like when Azel says "I should slit their throats here and now"; all part of a completely believable, touching and thrilling story. I like so much the bad times that are coming; I mean, staying in the slyce of life mode of the nomads from that epoch and region was nice and beautiful; but the incoming war is so real and interesting...
The story of Tarasu is also so touching and real... I was hoping Mr Smith would have come to take her with him... but the title of that marvellous chapter about her taking out her turban from his head and playing with the sheep is "Beautiful and frail"... It explains it all.
Fever (side story 3) is so intimate and beautifully told.
