Sure. Konomi draw a supposed Atobe and Yuushi match but just was the beginning. So that whole match can not be considered as canon. The animators took it to themselves and made it.
I don't know but really the only thing that I can consider canon are those from the original author, in PoT's case, if it's from Konomi. The manga and the databooks are canon, definitely. I believe it also goes for other mangas.
There have been lots of divergence because of how the anime screwed lots of things. Even if they do't clash with the storyline, I just couldn't TRUST them. Although it could be irksome when there are things that are screwed I still take these Another Story OVAs just for fun and more of like FANSERVICE.
I mean, when did these animators become smarter about PoT than Konomi?

In anime, fanservice stands for scenes which are not relevant to the overall plot at all, but merely are included to give the viewers what they presumably want to see.
