『キングダム』("KINGDOM") is a popular seinen manga by Yasuhisa Hara. (EN wiki link) Dunno why but I have not read the manga or watch the anime. Masakazu Morita, the voice actor for Ichigo in Bleach, is doing the voice for a Kingdom's main character, Xin (信). I like Morita-san, so I should watch the anime at least...

I remember starting to read Kingdom but kinda forgotten about it after a pause from manga-reading Haven't got far yet but the seems rich and interesting.

Here is another youkai.
Zunberabou (also called "nopperabou" wiki) is a well-known faceless Japanese youkai (ghostly creature), which appears in the story/chapter of Mujina in "Kwaidan　(怪談): Stories and Studies of Strange Things" by Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi, Yamumo). The Studio Ghibli's Pom Poko features a modern retelling of the Mujina. Maybe I should watch the film sometime.

The vengeful spirit of a horse that haunts the one who torments it (wiki). Story goes, 塩の長司 loves eating horse meat prepared in salt or miso. When he finally runs out of horse meat, he decides to eat his old horse. Chouji beats it to death. The moment it dies, the old horse's spirit rushes through his mouth into his stomach, which causes prolonged agony and eventually leads to his death.

There're a number of variations: John Doe, John Smith, or even Joe Bloggs (we sometimes say this in the UK.) As for female, I feel Mary would work if it were in a first-name only context (Mary Smith sounds weird to me too.) On the other hand, Jane Doe is certainly commonly used.

On a related note, the Chinese version includes names such as 張三, 李四, and 王五

Iai is the control movement to counter-atack with a sword. (It sort of sounds similar to 気配. ) When you feel enemy's 気配, you should be ready for it.
