After August got more votes than Selene, I'm not even that surprised. I just had more hope than that. At this point, I'm more surprised that Acnologia & Dogramag each got the most votes.

Once upon a time gray was the strongest character in fairy tail at one point tho..... but now he's losing to Lucy and Wendy and is struggling against a weakened Mira and elfman. He wasn't even a challenger in his group, group c, iirc

Look up the "FT strongest character" lists and videos during the arc, Gray was consistently put alongside Laxus and Jellal, maybe even higher.

I saw someone on YouTube who made videos of Fairy Tail's strongest characters per year.

He was above Laxus and Jellal in X792.

He was below Lucy and Wendy in X793.

Gildarts shouldn't have gotten more votes than Ignia or Irene but it makes sense why Irene and Ignia got the same amount. We are picking the strongest people in each section and not an individual person.

I guess "Irregularities" like weaker characters having votes close to the strongest or even above could be due to scenarios on how they would handle a battle royal and their survivability until 4 remain, or it was just random picks lol.
Its basically not who the strongest is but who survives the battle royal. But yes Gildarts having more votes is weird especially when you have dragons in it. For them a battle royal should serve no purpose (they should have been prohibited), they will win no matter what, except (IMO) for Dogramag in his bracket. I had him getting butchered by Acno before the end of the battle royal. A very possible scenario considering Acno's personality, and yet he still came on top, second. I would have really liked to see him go down.

Thought i will say that Kiria, Skullion and Madmole combined having a score of 2 points put a smile on my face

Because they were so many people who believed in huge power boost for this time skip and we know
Erza >= Misaki
August >= irene

So if one believes in the power jump then Misaki beats irene and erza beats August
And if one doesn't then irene beats Misaki and August beats erza.

I just wanted to see the mental gymnastics some will do to get the cake and eat it too

The rest two were not required with aconologia and dg in them

I don't think there's much of a power boost. We've only gotten statements that few characters are far stronger than before. There's a power boost but it's not that significant. Anyone relative to Erza rn is fucking misaki same with Eileen as for august vs Erza it's depends on august fighting smart

You can't give August feats he doesn't have.

nothing surprising tbh. 6dgs is the main villain. mashima misled us on purpose with diabolos. 6acnologia lvl threats > 1acno+zeref+spriggan. and august&irene are still superior to the majority of diabolos. maybe even some lower spriggans are too

The Spriggan have been surpassed, except for the top tier. The gap isn’t wide enough to net a win anymore though.
