I just rewatched the old indiana jones trilogy and at some point I kinda got the feeling that Dr. Henry 'Indiana' Walton Jones Junior has a lot in common with Ging Freecss. Knowledge about ancient civilisations and their language, how they improvise and deal with trouble in an instant, survivability in the wilderness.
The first thing we learned about Ging from Satotsu also was that Ging as a Hunter was known for restaurating ruins of some lost civilsation.
On the contrary Indiana Jones has some kind of sense of responsibility that Ging lacks, so there is that. But most of the other parts do match pretty well.
