I started when FT was in the wizards saints days and jamal was still in it along with ultear.

Edit: and still reading despite the horrible writing. I prefer rave master, it still had fan service but the man was still telling a story unlike FT nowadays. I like FT before it zeref days after the tenrou island arc.

Sadly I do agree that gray has character... but only compared to the rest of the FT cardboard-depth gang

@Dragoon is right actually. I feel that Gray has a lot of potential as a character, but it is wasted in what has become of Fairy tail as a manga. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying FT is bad, but it's being written in a very simple way and is made to please it's fandom as much as possible. Therefore characters who had some depth in the begining of the manga (such as Gray, Erza, Laxus even Lucy) became paler in some sense, because in fact that very depth is not really needed to maintain their popularity with fans.

In the begining things were different though (and much better IMO).

Wilhelm wasn't forced to anything, he choose his own path and choose NOT to go after revenge or destruction.
The situation they were in was kinda the same, they just choose very different paths.
