Re: The J-Music Show!

Since there is one more surprise left for this show ;), I won’t post the new poll yet. So if you want to suggest/recommend other songs you still have time to do it.
not a clue what that surprise could be but I'm curious to see what it is ;)
the songs are good so far and the K-ON one's do surprise me, I did not expect that I would like them that much. "Pani Poni Dash" and "Pre-Parade" are great too, that's the first time I'm not so sure which songs I should give my vote but oh my... let's wait for the surprise :tem

In all seriousness, I'm liking the idea of OJS48. What better way to spend your retired life making music and having a great time?

Haha! Then perhaps you will like the idea of this as well :XD

Were you shocked when we reported about “OJS48“? Well, there is another group that may surprise you. The “idol” group is called “SAMURAI ROSE“, which consists of ladies in and around their 40s. Surprisingly, the youngest member of the group is 34 years old, and the oldest one is 58 years old! (the oldest one is not really “around 40″, but she passed the audition because she is still “around 40″, mentally.) In addition, the members are regular ladies with various occupations, such as the president of companies, nurses, chefs, etc.

SAMURAI ROSE used to be a 5 single mothers group, but after they debuted in February, they were avalanched with many applicants who also wanted to join the group. Therefore, they held auditions, and will now become a big group with 40 members.

They will debut as major group on October 6th, with their debut single “Rouge to Martini“, and before their debut, an event to celebrate their major debut was held on October 2nd. They performed their debut single as well as PRINCESS PRINCESS’s masterpiece, “M”, which will be included in the single as a follow up song, in front of 220 fans.

By the way, they are not produced by Akimoto Yasushi who created OJS48.

Again, NGL, it amused me to no end I just had to share ^^

Re: J-Music Hangout

They're not of retirement age, but it's still awesome that they're enjoying what they want to do. :D I would rather have more "alternative" groups such as these than the ordinary, young idol groups.

Re: J-Music Hangout

This is what's so good with asians. They all look like they're in their 40s so if they're around the 40s mentally, why not? :cookiehand (jk)

In all seriousness though it seems fricking awesome. Not my cup of tea... But awesome!

Re: J-Music Hangout

@Blai: Why, thank you. <3 *is a Nikkei-jin*
Old news is old but thought I would like to share. :3

Ayumi Hamasaki's latest maxi single "L" seized the number-one spot on the Oricon weekly chart, becoming her 25th consecutive number-one single since "Free & Easy" in 2002.

Hamasaki now holds the record for the most #1 singles by a female artist, in both the solo and group categories.

Last week, Hamasaki tied with singer Matsuda Seiko, who reigned over the Oricon chart with 24 singles in a row from 1980 to 1988, with the single "Crossroad". With "L"'s success, however, she was able to take the title from Matsuda, who held the record for 22 years.

Ayu commented, "I'm surprised and honored at the same time. It's all thanks to the fans who have supported each and every single that I kept putting my heart in."

SOURCE
I used to (and still am) a huge fan of Ayu so I'm really glad her hardwork has paid off. Even through tough times like her partial deafness, she never gave up. I'm so proud of her!

Re: Visual Kei

I don't really listen to much VK but I got into SID after hearing their songs for FMA:Brotherhood anime :thumbs Apart from them I only listen to a smattering of songs from various VK bands but the only one I actually follow is SID I guess.

Like Kashu_Desu said, there is a lot of diversity in VK. As I already said, I don't listen to VK much because I find a lot of it isn't quite my style, but there are definitely a large number of gems in the genre. Because of the diversity, there's bound to be something for everyone, I guess you could say :tem

not a clue what that surprise could be but I'm curious to see what it is ;)
I don’t think I’ll be able to have the surprise anymore. :( Gomen! But on the bright side, I’m restarting the J-Music Show. :) And what better way to re-start the show than with some J-Music news.

RIAJ gives AKB48’s “Beginner” a “Million” certification
by Shiso on November 10, 2010 at 1:39 pm

--------------------
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced that AKB48’s 18th single “Beginner“, which was released on October 27th, has earned the certification of “Million” on November 10th.

This is the first time that any AKB48 song has ever reached the “Million” mark, and it has been three years and two months since any single CD has been certified as “Million” by the RIAJ. The last to accomplish this feat was “Sen no Kaze ni Natte” (released in August 2007) by Akikawa Masafumi.

As we reported earlier, “Beginner” sold 827,000 copies in the first week, and it’s the best record among all female group for the sales in the first week of release.

For 2010, only Arashi’s album, “Boku no Miteiru Fukei“, and AKB48’s single, “Beginner”, are certified as “Million” for now.

Do as Infinity announces 8th album, “EIGHT”
by Novaforever on November 10, 2010 at 9:11 am

----------------------

Pop duo Do as Infinity will be releasing a brand new album for their 11th anniversary, titled, “EIGHT.”

The album is the 8th full studio album from the duo and will come out on January 19th of next year. Do as Infinity already has veteran producer Seiji Kameda (Tokyo Jihen) on board for the release. It will feature ballads similar to their hits “Hi no Ataru Sakamichi” and “Hiiragi“, but will also cover a much wider variety of genres. The tracks will vary from powerful upper songs to funk numbers.

Also included will be “Everything will be all right“, which was used as the 2010 BOAT RACE TV CM song, “Kimi ga inai Mirai” from the television anime Inuyasha, and their “Do! Creative!!” project theme.

However, the most noteworthy aspect of the album may be that this is the first time that members Van and Ryo will be doing the songwriting on their own. It will certainly be an interesting evolution of sound for the group, and it should stand out from all their previous releases.

The album will be released with a CD + DVD version that will contain the music video for “1/100” and three other music clips, along with documentary footage.

TOKIO & Arashi to hijack the TV for New Year’s Day
by Shiso
---------------------------------

It’s been reported that two variety shows featuring JE groups will be broadcasted in a “relay style” for New Year’s Day. Running for five and a half hours, the two shows have been identified as “THE Ultraman DASH Kiseki no 3-pun kan wo Mokugeki seyo” and “Arashi ni Shiyagare New Year’s Day 2.5 hours special“.

For the first, it will be hosted by the members of TOKIO, who will introduce experts on difficult subjects or interests; the group members report on the experts completing unique tasks, such as getting fully-dressed while sky diving, or breaking an egg while bungee jumping. TOKIO’s special will air at 6:00 p.m to 8:54 p.m on January 1st.

Right after TOKIO’s show ends, Arashi’s “Arashi ni Shiyagare New year’s day 2.5 hours special” will air. The show is a special edition of their variety show “Arashi ni Shiyagare“. On this program, the group will welcome two sets of secret guests to the show – interestingly enough, the Arashi member will not be informed of who these special guests will be. “Arashi ni Shiyagare New Year’s Day 2.5 hour special” will air from 9:00 PM to 11:24 PM.

Although their concepts are completely different, in the beginning of each show, there will be a talk portion in which both TOKIO and Arashi members come out together.

the GazettE releases PV for “PLEDGE”
by GhostWriter

________________________________________________

Visual kei group the GazettE is scheduled to release their new single, “Pledge,” on December 15th and the PV for this upcoming single was released earlier today.

This is the third single of the year for the group, but it definitely stands apart from their other releases. “Pledge” will be the first ballad style single from the band since “Guren” back at the beginning of 2008. The song will set the mood for the winter season, and is being described as a new classic for the group.

“Pledge” will hit stores right before the GazettE is scheduled to perform at their Tokyo Dome Christmas concert on December 26th.

Re: J-Music Hangout

I just came across this song and for two minutes I wondered "what the F did I just stumble across" and exited the window... Thirty seconds later I listened again.

It's stuck in my head and incredibly catchy... But oh so not my cup of tea, why can't I stop listen to it? :scry

Oh, Perfume. Their techno sound kinda invades your brain and makes you listen even when you don't want to, and then stays there like a virus ><

Re: The J-Music Show!

AKB48, Itano Tomomi’s spotlight and new CD jacket covers released!

The Jacket covers for Itano Tomomi‘s Solo Debut Single “Dear J” have been revealed in ORICON STYLE on the 22nd. All 3 covers show different pictures of Itano’s face from up-close and each include different coupling songs and special movies enclosed in the DVDs.

Excluding temporary projects and songs released under different names, this is Itano’s first solo debut under Akimoto Yasushi, AKB48‘s founder. The song “Dear J” consists of up-tempo dance music and the MV includes a luxurious stage setting that has pulled out Itano’s charm.

The coupling music for Type-A is “Tunnel”, Type-B is “Stay by my side”, and Type-C is “Thank you”. The DVD included in each type includes not only an MV for the song but also another special video. Type-A: “Tomomi Itano Collection” Type-B: “Tomomi Itano Interview” Type-C: “Making of Tomomi Itano”

Also, in honor of this solo debut, Itano Tomomi has been chosen to become the new image character for the Samantha Thavasa Group.

Hey ZERO PHOENIX! Thanks for the awesome recs. I never heard or came across the Japanese band; Back-On before and I'm very impressed with what I've heard form them so far. New World is the one that stands out most for me. Other notable mentions would be: Drive, Grab and 50/50. :nod

As for Forces of Nature; they're awesome. :D That "Hiji Suru Style" tune is the shiz! A fantastic record! I love the funky bass in it. It's definitely a jam! ^^

Hey alice! I've heard of HIME before but I haven't liked much of her material tbh. There was another Japanese female rapper that featured in an international hip hop track with KRS-One which was really good. I can't remember the name of the track or the rapper but I'll definitely post it once I find it on the net!

Yo Blai!

It was used for the first Naruto Shippuden OP; I'm sure many are familiar with the song and have heard it before but haven't paid much attention to the actual group or have taken an interest in them haha. =P I quite liked "Innocent Word" and "Where are you from...?" from them.

Re: Visual Kei

Definitely Malice Mizer and SID all the way.
I love the intricate melodies and accompaniment in Malice Mizer and I love the lead singer's voice in SID, so strong and powerful.

Re: Visual Kei

My friend is a HUGE fan of visual-kei and a song he recommended to me was Eliza from Vidoll. KHR has quite a bit of theme songs from visual-kei artists such as LM.C (BOYS AND GIRLS and 88) and SuG. Most of the videos for SuG has been taken down. :(

My preference for visual-kei seems to be colourful ones with a fashion sense similar to scene kids.
