GAME END

Within one swift night, the world's deadlock was broken. Moebius lost full control of the world, and the Endless now came to an end.

But, the new world that would be created would not be a return to what should have been in the truest sense. No, just one individual outsmarted all and gained the strength to reforge the world to his own desires.

There are a few thank yous I want to make before I head off to bed because HOLY FUCK it is late.

Firstly, to my wonderful co-host and friend @Lambu for helping me build this game that I'm incredibly proud of. We put a lot of time into it, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. It wouldn't of been anything like this without your expertise and input so thank you for joining me on creating this! 🙏

Secondly, thank you to @Marmalade! You nailed the aesthetic with the avatars and this game wouldn't of looked anywhere near as nice as it did without all your hard work! Thank you for helping me reach my creative vision! 🙏

Thirdly, I'd like to give a thank you to @Copy Panda! Not only was the furry fella our substitute in case he was needed, but in the early days of idea brewing late last year, I had the idea of adapting The Devil from the Chainsaw Man game I got to co-host with him and tweaking it for a new setting. He gave me his blessing and was another pivotal point of feedback for game construction so thank you my friend 🙏

Fourthly, this game nearly had a completely different set-up due to player numbers, but in the face of adversity some incredible people stepped up to fill the plate- Bel, Jammin, Kat: thank you for helping us reach the number of players we needed for the game to run as we envisioned, and for your crucial parts that you played!

Finally, thank you to all the players! I'm so glad you all joined us for this game. I love the Xenoblade series and I had a wonderful time creating the game with Lambu, as well as hosting it! Thank you to all who made it possible, and on one last note: CONGRATULATIONS HARDY!!!

@Lambu thoughts on game and stuff you let Sam get away with? :nrr
Of course :lambirb/ I needed some time off the forum like I always do when Im done hosting but feedback is of the essence, lets get to it. :mono

It was a compact but very active game in terms of line-up despite having so many vanilla players going around. This was mainly for the presence of the "Double Ouroboros" in the hands of Town, which was extraordinarily powerful in the simulations I did for testing.
It was the reason I decided Freeman was a must in the base set up, even if it was originally designed to be a Santa gift. Most simulated scenarios had over 60% chances of featuring at least one block or succesful protection by the likes of Town, specially in the N2-N3 window.
I did not test the possibility of Santa erasing the Freeman with its Miller gift though, my mistake :shootme but in a way that oversight was balanced right back after Shad's unfortunate accident so... :ninja

In the original draft that Sam and I reviewed, Ouroboros was supposed to be like "the Devil" of Chainsampan but with added features, which is why we set another Psychiatrist as mandatory.

The Cooldown effect that the roles in Ouroboros had was a way to nerf them to a certain extent, since the Town version had 3 extremely powerful roles that would have really high odds of hitting a mark. At a certain point we debated about whether the special secondary roles should have "2 roles with one-night CD" or even two different Ouroboros designs for Town (one with defensive capabilities and other with offensive), but in the end we opted for simplicity and gave everyone the similar kit that was "3 roles with two-nights CD".
This resulted in a rather glaring oversight, "Mafia Doc" was completely useless to the mafia and could only be used to fool a Spy, not a usual happenstance at all, so if there's something I would definitely change if I could go back to the crafting board would be to add something more useful for the Mafia version, with Det and Escort being alright by default.

As for the spice of the game...

I think the Santa gift line-up was overall well balanced. It had two positive gifts (Ouroboros and Necromancer), two offensive ones (role change to Miller-Mafia Boss and the "Silencer") and one neutral: the Potato, which ended up dying with DD but was set to explode at the end of Day 5.

I agree the Silencer was really powerful, specially for the in-built Robber function it had which disconcerted so many people... but a very specific situation was given for it to be overpowered, which was the recipient not saying a word about receiving said gift. :evil
It did not occur to me that Santa would claim being a Noble as a way to gain credibility with that one, mainly because he would be shouting to the four winds they are Santa and the victim of the gift would just need to say the word. I did not foresee the chance of Mafia accepting their loss though, which was a reasonable possibility in a bad situation near the end, but in its base concept it wasn't really made to be groundbreaking.

Still if people prefer Santa to not receive buffs through gift delivery thats a fair line to be set and it could be discussed later on :gent

In the end Im satisfied with how the game played out, every side had their chances even if Mafia became an ouroboros target a little too soon for claiming active roles from the get go ayyyy... Perhaps Sam was right and we should have posted the role line-up like it was done in Chainsampan, definitely things to consider in future iterations.

Best players of the game were Bel, Farf and Hardy, no questions asked. One was spot on with actions and hunches, the other took the lead while being the target of every living thing and the last played the unsuspecting Town to the best degree possible, not even the Freeman removal was an impediment for his victory, most deserved congratulations and hats off :hi

Thanks a lot for playing everyone, and most importantly thanks @SirSamuel016 for your huge effort and passion put into the design and execution of this game, can't wait to cohost or play another one with you mate :verily

I'll be back to doing pigeon things now

Birb out! :lambirb/

Woudn't it only need for a gift to be not reported for it to work?
Like if Santa gifts the same person night killed, woudn't they be able to claim the noble gift without being contested?

It would need to be timed properly or claiming receiving a gift few nights before and not reporting it.

Still if people prefer Santa to not receive buffs through gift delivery thats a fair line to be set and it could be discussed later on :gent
I prefer when Santa can fake getting a gift as well, just makes things way more interesting and balanced.

that oversight was balanced right back after Shad's unfortunate accident so... :ninja
Yey... Happy to have helped!

which disconcerted so many people...
I came in expecting foul play, I woudn't have been disconcerted easly again :D

Overall, my feedback is best Santa I've seen in my 2 years experience, kept me on the edge of my seat, made me read about the role and try to figure out how to play it, well done hosts @SirSamuel016 @Lambu and @Hardy for driving it.
