Anime new to the series

i look forward to it!!!
i will marathon read the manga as soon as i watch these next few episodes

then i will watch the anime and resd the manga as hey both come out

i kind of gave up on the anime in a few series eventually and just read the manga(naruto, fairytail)
but i dont get that feeling from this anime at all

Why?!? Why would you spoil yourself with the manga when you've come this far Anime lose there surprises when you just read ahead at an unrestricted pace

how far did it go into the story?

At the end of greed island arc.the 1999 version has some flaw but it is still watchable. The way they handle kurapika character was a bit off.you would understand if u watch it.

The 99 version ended at the completion of G.I. Note that the G.I arc is kinda crap, but everything before it is superb. It's nothing like the 2011 version though - there's a huge difference in tone and the adaptation attempted to portray HxH realistically, lending it a sort of cinematographic feel. Expect difference in the portrayal of characters, plot events and so on. Regardless, it is - widely - very well regarded despite drawing the ire of manga fans. I'd say check it out now. Nothing to lose.

If you are going to watch the 99 anime,you should have watched it before the new one,I think you won't really appreciate it now.You should just read the manga and Kurapika Recollections(a 2 chapters one-shot about Kurapika's clan)
