[help] border angle

i need some help here ^^

my upper frame border is not straight ( im not intend to make it straight).
You see, its not clear or neat and i wanna make neat and dark.
Can anyone explain in a noob way coz im not very good in Photoshop (just started learning).

Use the line tool and make it as big as you did for your strait lines. Then take that and bring it over your border; making sure that your line is the closest to the inside of the border that you can get. Now either do a fill, or a make selection and fill (doesn't really matter, I usually do a regular fill though). Now when you go to remove the old borders, you will have the new one left.

Although, it looks like the top and bottom borders are supposed to be strait, but they warped. It's easier to tell if you use an actual page though.

where can i find the Cloning icon?

i am new here.... and not familiar with the icons of the adobe photoshop, where can i find the cloning tools? i need it in order to edit the phrases outside the text bubbles which is near the character drawing like this one

i want to edit the above phrases near the character's head <outside text bubles>

It will be right under the healing brush, and right next to the art history brush, and it looks like a hand stamper. Or you can click s to activate the shortcut that will immediately activate it.

File size?

Ok, me and a friend just started to translate a manga and doing the cleaning etc etc. yeah, the whole package.

I can't by the love of god use the search function, I have no idea why, but the bot-safety thingies are using me as a punch-bag.


Anyho, I just realized a problem... Each .png file has a file size of 1MB, I'd say thats way overboard. Then again, we don't want to loose quality.

Any idea how to minimize the size yet keep the quality? (So far I've been saving them as PNG-24, because PNG-8 makes all the gray areas darker, almost black in some cases!).

Any suggestions welcome!

Followed the guide, tried pngcrush, sure the file size was changed dramatically, for the better.

However pngcrush did not fix the "darker shade" issue from the PNG-8 format (the guide gave the same gray darkened tone). Too bad, since he insists on the pngcrush software to fix the "quote: 'including gamma information that Photoshop will likely write incorrectly, making the png too dark. After running pngcrush the png won't be too dark any more.'"

Are your images in grayscale or RGB? I'd guess they're in RGB atm and changing them to grayscale does it regardless. Just convert to grayscale, ease up on the leveling a bit and it should work out fine. Also, I recommend advpng, it's part of the advcomp package, you can get it here.

Edit: And in regards to zipping it, a deflate algorithm is built into the format of png, so any gains in compression will generally be nominal. Also, RAR's will usually have a few k smaller(compared to zip) filesize, presumably due to a more efficient header.

Typesetting: How to copy-paste from .txt file?

I've been typing everything out manually because I never had success copy-pasting the script from notepad/MS Word into Photoshop.

Does anyone know how to do that?

Thank you very much - that would save me a lot of time.

Hm, that is strange. I can copy everything from a website or a textfile and it will paste in Photoshop or any other program without problems.

But I'm barely using Windows, so I can't troubleshoot this problem.

I usually just

- copy the desired text
- get into text mode, click on where you want to paste
- while the cursor is still blinking, just press CTRL + V

Trouble with typeseting png files

I've been using Photoshop 7 and have recently encountered a problem.

Whenever I try to add text to a png, the picture suddenly gets a red tint.

It's really irritating, because as soon a I switch to another tool, I can't edit the picture/text anymore.

Does anyone know what's going on here. I know I'm editing on the right layer, because the layers box only show one layer. If anyone could help I'd be grateful.

Change your image to Grayscale (it's on Indexed Color now).
