For the sake of the story, Takamura has to lose. I think it will be an interesting character development for him, and perhaps the one thing Ippo needs so he can go back to the ring.

It is annoying to see Ippo so close to reach the answer and yet so far, and perhaps Takamura's fight will be the trigger he needs

I think it's an injury and it has to do with his eye. Seems like Takamura knows he can't go on for too long and hence why he is really rushing to get the belts.

If we go by the patterns of Takamura's fights, he is bound to lose. His real fights are getting more gruesome and his win against Bison was very narrow. I don't think Dragon will defeat him tbh but Takamura will get wrecked badly this time, worse than against Bison

Seems this fight might be too much for Takamura, in the sense that he might win but won't get out of it unscathed. No matter how you spin it, he has some problems with his eye.

Throwing these cryptic messages to Ippo only reinforces this. Perhaps Takamura being out of commission might push Ippo to come back

I just had to leave this here. Since this feel like an important issue in the Edited Manga community. I have been reading scanlated manga for almost 20 years (tbh it's closer to 16-17 I think - but 20 sounds better xD) and the moment I read this message, I remembered the old days in which we had those spoiler photographs leaks of manga-pages. Bleach, Naruto, One Piece.. etc damn - good old times. I think I have been reading HnI for 15 years now. Still feel young in my heart.

So... i took a break and consumed like 20 chapters after another and damn, i like the way this is going. Mashiba arrived finally in the world, Miyata will be next and everytime the world will see: "lost to Makonouchi Ippo".

Martinez getting more and more intrigued is also fascinating. (While i hope Wally gets finished pretty fast)

Still reading, but I am getting fed up with Ippo and the way the author is handling him. Morikawa drops some hints that Ippo might be considering boxing again, but the progress is so slow that it is tiresome (which at least gave us the opportunity to focus on other characters).

But I really believe Morikawa needs to speed up a bit. The pacing is very bad.
