I really enjoyed Jetforce Gemini for the N64 (3rd person shooter/platformer). I have yet to beat it sadly due to the impossibility of saving all these furry tribal people (think Ewok's)...

I also really like Ikaruga.

If you take one hit you're dead (if you get hit with the opposite color you are. Red shield, you die with one blue hit, and vice versa). You can purchase it on the XBL market rather cheaply, and it's really worth it!

Those are the only 2 I can think of at the moment, though I see some pretty popular games in here. Especially the 'Tales of..." series.

Ah Jet Force Gemini epitomises why the N64 was such a great console.

Anyone old enough to have played Codename: Viper on the NES.
Then there was also Actraiser for the SNES. And anyone remember the original Ninja Gaiden games for the NES?

Perhaps I'm jsut being a video games geek, but most of the games in this thread don't look to be "little known games" to me, some of them are pretty big classics even now. ^^;

It's already been said by some posters, but Guardian Heroes is one of the lesser-know jewels of the Sega Saturn. It's a somewhat classic side-scroller beat'em all, with some rpg elements and fighting games controls, and it's just GREAT ! ^^

Also, Spy vs Spy I played on the Sega Master System when I was a kid ;)

It's not that unknown, but: Disciples 2
Amazingly great game with super cool optical design. Disciples 3 sucks btw.

It's medieval fantasy scenario round based strategy, really great on spending many hours on. Very motivating with leveling units and especially heros, which can be saved and leveled/equipped further.

I'd like to plug/emphasize one really really great (OLD) game:

Bubble Bobble (1) for the NES

it's really awesome, there's 99 lvls, and you shoot out bubbles which encase the monsters and than you have to pop the bubbles to "kill" the monsters.

it's really a lot of fun, as it can be played 2 player, and there's quite a few bonus items, and the lvls become very difficult as well.

it's really an amazing game even now.

its an awesome game for guys and girls.

but, Girls might find that they especially enjoy it a lot

but this is not to say that it's a "girl" game, as it is incredible fun for guys too, me and my male friends loved it, and I still do!

----

I don't know if this game sounds fun to you, but it really is, words maybe can't describe how fun this game really truly is!

it's really fun AND challenging (but not annoyingly hard/impossible)! :D

I agree with Shrimp most of these games are old/classics rather than "little-known" my favourite game that's probably little known but it's considered a cult classic now is Tombi! (or Tomba! in the US) fantastic PSOne game. I still play it, but gosh darn it there's a bug that stops you from completing it 100% ha..ha... *sigh*

Bellsar SMT needs more love, they are fantastic games. At least Catherine is getting a lot of recognition and I've forced about 10 friends to check out the Persona series <3

I'ma create an "old games" thread :)

Will you buy the 3DS version of the game, g0dzax?

I enjoy playing the Atelier series and the Shin Megami Tensei series (especially the Persona ones) though the latter is getting more popular nowadays.

Nah,I don't like the 3DS (my friend bought one and I've played on it a few times and it's still a bit expensive here,it's roughly around 400 dollars)but still I would buy that game for PC if it weren't freeware lol.If anything I would have bought the PSP version it would have been awesome to play it on PSP.

Dunno if this was mentioned before, but Supaplex never got the attention it deserved, but it's an old, catchy game though.

I’ve recently played through a little known indie-treasure called Amnesia. It is, without a doubt, the scariest game I have ever played (sorry Silent Hill 1 & 2). The atmosphere is bone chilling - dark, but adventurous and story driven - it’s incredibly well done. Plus the monsters scare the ever-living wit out of me (arg, the "water part" had me on pins and needles!). If you enjoy horror games in which you don’t shoot away your problems, I’d suggest this little gem.

Beyond Good & Evil is another unknown game that was very enjoyable. Though it’s a good eight years old, it still looks nice for a PS2 release and its price tag is under twenty American dollars. Also, it's actually humorous despite the serious plot.
