I love hardcore BL, like manga from Ashika Sakura!
I only know Sensitive Pornograph from her. I liked it a lot. The Bondage one-shot was very different and funny. Did you read more things from her?
My list of mangas to read is big, but i am always adding more names :XD

So, i have been hunting and watching live-actions from the Takumi-kun Series in the past two weeks and i gotta tell you, i loved it.
I always thought those movies would be almost porn, but these ones are nice, true drama with BL in it.
I'm making a thread for it, if anyone wants to discuss it.
The next one i'll watch will be Boys Love.
:)

I know these news are 1 month old, but there will be another successful BL novel adapted to Live Action coming out this year, in february.

Fushimi Orchestra Novel Series Gets Live-Action Film

Koh Akizuki's Fujimi Block No. 2 Symphony Orchestra adaptation stars Shōta Takasaki, Yūsuke Arai

Koh Akizuki's Fujimi Block No. 2 Symphony Orchestra boys' love novel series is receiving a live-action film adaptation slated to open in Japan next spring. The film will include the story from the original 1994 novel Kanreizensen Conductor (Cold Front Conductor). Shōta Takasaki (Takumi-kun Series 5: Ano Hareta Aozora) will play the music teacher Yuuki Morimura, and Yūsuke Arai (Gekiatsu~Manatsu no Etude~) will play the conductor Kei Tonoin.

In the original novel series, Tonoin is a concertmaster and conductor for an amateur orchestra, and he falls in love with Morimura after hearing his music. Morimura, concertmaster for another amateur orchestra, is in love with a the group's female flutist Natsuko Kawashima. The story follows the two men's developing romantic relationship.

Kadokawa Shoten published Fuyu no Tabi (Winter Travel; pictured), the seventh novel in Akizuki's drama series, with illustrations by Keiko Nishi and Sei Gotou on November 30. AIC produced an adult original anime video project based on the the story in 1998.

That is really interesting! I have recently gotten into shonen-ai, and am finding myself more into same-sex pairings than before. I did not know Japan made live-action BL movies! I think its great because you don't really find these kind of G-rated movies in Hollywood.

I would like to post here more often, but I'm not entirely sure what I can post about. My BL interests are still budding. xD

Oh! And Mangatherapy recently posted an article on the buying power of fujoshi, I thought it was an interesting read. [link]

Well, you are free to talk about BL and slashy things here. Manga, anime, movies, drama CDs.
Threads about explicit yaoi (hard yaoi) aren't allowed, but we can talk about it in the Hangout (ex.: Haru wo daite ita).

As i am still new in the BL movies area, i can't say too much yet. The oldest movie classified as BL movie i found was Boys Love (2006).
If i had to compare with something from the american productions, i'd have to say that the TV series Queer as a folk is stronger than the japaneses BL movies. All the five movies from Takumi-kun Series are shounen-ai. And i loved them.

Can't Recall the Name of This Manga... Anyone Know It?

Hello. I am looking for a manga that my friend read about two years ago. She's a bit foggy on the details, so I'm sorry if there's not much to go on:

The manga starts off in their childhood and follows them through their lives. Apparently there is a creep in the beginning who tries to get them, and at least one of them plays soccer in highschool. I believe she said that the dark-haired one is seme and the fair haired one is uke.

She also kept telling me that it is quite touching, even though she's not much into yaoi. It was already finished when she read it, and it was around 40 chapters. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Re: Can't Recall the Name of This Manga... Anyone Know It?

Hi there, Ketsora. Welcome on board. :)
I'll move these posts to Boys Love Hangout later.

Let's see. Right now, i think that it can be Zetsuai Bronzze. But it had different fases, launched separated.
Titles:
- Zetsuai 1989
- Bronze: Zetsuai Since 1989
- Bronze: Zetsuai Gaidan Kaendan-Shō -Tenshi Kōtan-

If i remember any other name, i'll post later. Bed time.

This series is considered shoujo according to MangaUpdates. But there's loads of shounen that aren't action-oriented, like Love Hina, one of the most popular shounen romantic comedies.
Someone went there and changed it recently. It was shounen-ai when i first searched for a new BL series to read. And it is serialized in a BL magazine, the same that has Junjou Romantica.
The person who did that is either confused after reading the first volume or is a troll or is confused with the novel/play (they have nothing to do with BL).

OH, yeah, i gotta think of the other way too. Maybe the person that wrote shounen-ai months ago was the one mistaken.
I'm gonna do a small research to find out.
Thanks for pointing it.

---------- Post added February 19, 2012 at 01:18 AM ---------- Previous post was February 14, 2012 at 05:06 PM ----------

I found 2 covers for each of 10 volumes. 1 by Tousuisha and other by Asuka-Cie for each volume.
Maybe the series started at one publishing and then it was moved to other publisjing and they decided to relaunch all the previous volumes.

Maybe it became shounen-ai later. Kadokawa has shoujo magazines, so i don't get it why it was placed on a BL magazine instead.

Hey Asclepius, I'm replying to your post on cross-dressing in the Confessions thread, just because its totally OT.

I have to admit, I don't get the cross-dressing trope either...unless I image it to be one of the character's sexual fantasy on the other. It can be especially weird if the cross-dresser himself isn't particularly androgynous looking. This happens a lot to the uke, too, implying he is physically and emotionally more genderqueer than his partner. But not all ukes are like that.

For example, I can totally see Gintoki Gintama cross-dressing. Its canon and he did it voluntarily. So if its a Hijikata/Gintoki scenario, Gintoki cross-dressing as a geisha is actually somewhat In Character.

Then again, maybe I shouldn't critiscize it too much since the Oga/Furuichi fandom kind of exploded when this filler episode came out:

Yes, the two main male characters cross-dressed as nurses, with stockings and lipstick included.

...if that wasn't enough, there was this scene as well. Thanks for the fanservice, Studio Pierrot! -_-; :derp :toc

Those cross-dressed guys look funny. Definately not feminine, not even sexy.
That's the type that i could enjoy depending on the story.

Right now, i'm interested on Miss Boys!. It's gonna be out on DVD soon. I liked the trailer. Not BLmovie.

But, anything that makes the uke really look like a girl makes me hump pages.
Like this page of One ga nai, all man and main character really look like a girl:

Well, Beelzebub is a comedy series, so it makes sense the costumes weren't suppose to be feminine, or anything. But technically, they made the characters look more feminine than usual just to fit the "image".

Damn, I was really confused with the image you showed up there. :lmao THAT is what I call crossdressing. What is the context of it all?

Just a correction, the name of the manga is Okane ga nai :XD

The boy wanted a job cause he has a big debt and the owner of this okama host club hired him to work in the kitchen. But one day, they had so many clients that they asked the boy to cross-dress to help.

'Ello everyone! I'm a fairly new member here and I haven't read all the posts, but I want to announce that Haru wo Daiteita, one of the best Yaoi out there, is going to be re-license: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/relicense-haru-wo-daiteita-in-english.html

While I haven't read it yet because I'm waaaaaay too young, my sister really, really want to buy all the volumes. Especially the scans are a mess :-_-

Please vote for the re-license! :hee Don't forget to spread the news!

I'm sorry if anyone already posted this...

Welcome to the forum.
I love that manga, but it is REALLY explicit.

The story was strange to me at first cause i didn't know how it was in Japan. But after you get to know the TV/Movie area in Japan, you get that the story is pretty real. It's really like that in terms of actors work.

Thanks for posting it. :nod

I hope you enjoy the forum. :)

I tried reading Haru wa Daita....its pretty good for straight up yaoi, but it was kind of lacking as a "story". :lmao I signed the petition anyway, good luck, I guess!

Okay, I don't know where I'd post this...

I've been searching for shounen-ai (not yaoi) vampire manga, and I heard that Vassalord is a good one with only light BL... But just in case, can anyone tell me if it contains smut?

OMG, OMG, OMG :wtf found this! (well, my sister did...)

North American Manga Publishing Powerhouse Launches A Bold New Initiative To Deliver Acclaimed Boys' Love Titles Digitally And In Print To An Eager Fan Base

San Francisco, CA, October 24, 2011 – Viz Media, LLC (Viz Media), the largest distributor and licensor of anime and manga in North America, has announced the launch of its highly anticipated new yaoi manga (graphic novel) line – SuBLime – which represents an innovative new partnership between Viz Media and Japan's Animate, Ltd. (Animate) and Libre Publishing Co., Ltd. (Libre Publishing).

This bold, global publishing initiative will present English-speaking fans everywhere with a broad selection of high quality titles. SuBLime will offer titles digitally worldwide on its dedicated web site at SuBLimeManga.com, with many available in Download-to-Own format, and selections in print also available in English-language editions worldwide. From the supernatural men of Naono Bohra's tales of fantasy to the sexy actors portrayed in some of Youka Nitta's best works, SuBLime will offer something for even the most discerning yaoi manga fan.

“The yaoi manga genre enjoys a sizeable and very passionate following, and the launch of SuBLime will give fans around the world an entirely new outlet that will deliver an exciting range of titles,” says Leyla Aker, Vice President of Publishing, Viz Media. “We invite fans to join us as we prepare to bring some of the best new boys' love manga titles to North America and beyond!”

“I'm very excited to open the way to providing boys' love manga to fans all over the world,” says Shingo Kunieda, Director of Animate's Overseas Division. “There are many wonderful yaoi manga titles released every month in Japan, and we know that fans want to read them as soon as possible. We are always... moving forward to find new ways of doing business, and by partnering with Viz Media, we can make yaoi fans happy and release boys' love titles as quickly as possible!”

Toshiko Ohta, President of Libre Publishing, concurs, saying, “Libre's dream is to bring our content to yaoi fans around the world. In partnership with Viz Media, this is now a reality. We look forward to readers' support for SuBLime!”
SuBLime's first round of digital manga titles are scheduled to launch this December, and will feature LOVE PISTOLS Vol. 1, by Tarako Kotobuki, and the North American debut of DANNASAMA TO MITSUGETSUCHU Vol. 1, by Haruka Minami. January 2012 sees the debut of OUSAMA NO BED, by Sakae Kusama, and in February, SWEET POOL Vol. 1, by Nitro+CHiRAL. SuBLime's first print titles are scheduled to be THREE WOLVES MOUNTAIN, by Naono Bohra, and HACHIMITSU DARLING, by Norikazu Akira, which will both be released in Spring 2012, followed by PUNCH UP Vol. 1, by Shiuko Kano, and AITSU NO DAIHONMEI Vol. 1, by Suzuki Tanaka, to be released in the Summer of 2012.

I posted a short note about SuBLime right after it appeared, in October 2011. And a more detailed post was in the News Shout Out that appears in the front page.

Big news confirmed for the yaoi world: Viz media (Naruto, Bleach, etc) now have a Boys' Love department called SuBLime.

They presented themselves at YaoiCon. They also answered questions and we can hope to have more titles to come. The best things were certainly the fact that they will be managing old titles that were licensed to other publishings and that they will have an online reader for those that prefer to pay to read mangas online.

Full interview here By Deb Aoki: http://manga.about.com/od/mangaeditorsinterviews/a/Sublime-Viz-Media-At-Yaoicon-2011-Part-1.htm

Thanks to YaoiReview and AarinFantasy for the link

^ I'm actually behind the manga by 50 chapters or so, but I'm planning to read the rest sometimes next week. Thanks for informing me about the subforum thingy!

You aren't the only one; my sister and I are Oga/Furuchi fans. She has drawn some fan-arts and is currently learning realistic art like most Yaoi manga, I'll ask her to draw some Oga/Furuchi soon and post them here :love Just wait!
No problem. :amuse I hope to see you there! The manga keeps getting better and funnier, you won't be disappointed. There's plenty of shipping fuel as well. :teehee I'm kind of convinced the author knows, but I'm not sure if he knows enough to troll us. -_-;

What I found amusing about Beelzebub's anime is how they really promoted Oga and Furuichi's relationship in a way that the manga never does. Like doing the 69 position under the desk because there's no space available, or being put under a spell that forces them to crossdress until they complete the game. Of course, these are all fillers, but even canon material they amped up the bromance.

^ Really? Which episode(s)? I don't watch the anime version of most manga because they totally ruin it... And I'll keep up with the manga soon if my computer will cooperate with me...

P.S.: It seems no one has answered my question in the previous page...

I've been searching for shounen-ai (not yaoi) vampire manga, and I heard that Vassalord is a good one with only light BL... But just in case, can anyone tell me if it contains explicit smut?

Oh, I stopped watching the anime as well, really early on, actually. The last episode I watched was episode 16, but I noticed that sometimes people drew a lot of fanart for certain episodes, and so yeah. I don't have a particular list of episodes, but episode 5 was kind of out there.

It was the episode where Himekawa kidnaps Hilda and Furuichi to lure Oga out. The anime has this huge sweeping shot of tiedup!Furuichi right before Oga activates Beel's demon mode for one thing. Then, after Hilda gets bored beats everyone up and leaves, Oga and Furuichi have a talk by the sea during the sunset to talk about wtf happened. They had the whole "Sorry this always happens" "Don't apologize, its not your fault" conversation during the sunset!

I haven't read Vassalord myself, but from some of the reviews I read on Manda-Updates it doesn't have anything explicit. There's some eroticized biting, but nothing more than PG-13. Hope that helps!
