Discussion Re-write the Alvarez Arc

As we know Serena has all those lacrimas and logically should be able to stomp the dragon slayers individually and we saw him 1 v 4 the wizard saints. So the 1 v7, would seem fair and balanced. With good writing, it could be done well.

Yeah, that would've been cool. But eventually should lose to the 7 dragon slayers then.

But again the problem that arise is that if Serena is that strong himself, how would anyone beat August or Zeref (Eileen wouldn't exist in my rewrite lol)? Unless you plan to make Serena an equal to August in the rewrite.
That would actually make sense from a narrative POV as well, the deterrent to invasion from Alverez was also an August level mage + 3 next GOI who are at least Spriggan level.
It's weird that the GOI 2-4 mages in Ishgar are not Spriggan level (at least by feats), these guys were the strongest in the continent until Tartarus arc. And even Serena who used to be the top mage of Ishgar, is hyped at Gildarts level and Gildarts got stomped by August. What stopped Alverez from invading Ishgar? Face? That would make Ishgar mages useless as well. Etherion? Why would only Ishgar have that? I'd assume that Alverez has equivalent weapons as well, they seemed to be technologically even more advanced!

Fully agree. Serena has fire, lightning, tempest, and cavern dragon slaying magic and four others. He would be able to tank Natsu, Wendy, and Laxus attacks and has magic that counters them, well Natsu and Wendy. And again he stomped the GOI when he got a bit serious, and at that point of the story I would put those guys above Cobra, Wendy, and Rogue. Sting is debatable. So, the fight wouldn't be lopsided, though I'll give the seven of them the edge.

I don't really care about statements, since they're usually contradicted in the manga by feats. I take statements/hype seriously only when feats don't contradict, or when feats are absent all together.

How does Gildarts being equal to Serena contradict August and Eileen statements? Not that I care too much about statements anyway, but still
Gildarts literally got curb-stomped by August. And Gildarts' only source of damage, that August wasn't immune to, was tanked by August comfortably. After this, Gildarts no longer has any means to damage August.
Gildarts can down human Eileen, but Dragon Eileen would easily wreck him as well since he doesn't have Dragon Slaying magic.

Where was it stated that their statement is wrong? As I know, GOI thought that Spriggans are equal to Serena. And there is no contradiction about their words (except August and Irene ofcourse). They said spriggans and Serena are equal - they are equal. They are just even stronger than GOI thought. Thats all. Why you say that stronger only Serena not all of them???

As all other spriggans in their first appearance? Yes, he was a historia, and what? Even historias are not much weaker. He just used flame water and was able to hold team few seconds. Without Gildarts, they could still beat him low diff, Gray freezes, others kick xd

No one compared Serena with Gildarts. Gild said Serena was a wizzard to reckon with. Did he know his power level? Did he fight him? I guess no.

1 - Serena join Alvarez as a spy for Ishgar, and no one is aware of that, except Invel who has some doubts about his loyalty.
2 - Ajeel fight against Natsu and has the upper hand but the fight is interrupted.
3 - Jacob fight against Jura, Warrod & Wolfheim. Hyberion says they don't need him and stays behind to save his magic to face Serena & August. Jacob loose against the 3 Wizard Saints with mid-diff.
4 - August one-shot Jura, Warrod & Wolfheim, fight against Hyberion and beat him with his own magic.
5 - Neinhart fight against Makarov & Erza, summons Hades and Makarov had his rematch against him. Makarov beat Hades (no devil heart) and Neinhart loose against a combined Erza/Makarov attack.
6 - Wall vs Laxus, same as manga.
7 - Brandish vs Lucy with Celestial Spirit King, Brandish wins high-diff but became Lucy friends after the fight and decide to not take part in the war.
8 - Jellal, Ultear & Kagura vs Dimaria & Marin. Jellal & Ultear beat Dimaria high-diff and Kagura beat Marin high diff.
9 - Gajeel, Levy, Sting & Rogue vs Bloodman. Team extreme diff.
10 - Ajeel vs Wendy, Sherria & Carla. Ajeel low diff.
11 - August ordered Serena to join Ajeel on the battlefield, and decides to betray Alvarez by confronting Ajeel who was about to kill Carla. Serena tell him that the gap between them is too much and that he has no idea of his real power. Serena mid-diff Ajeel without using his DF.
12 - Gray, Juvia & Lyon vs Invel. Gray high-diff. Lyon die which explain Gray wins.
13 - Mirajane, Elfman, Lisanna & Minerva vs Larcade. Larcade mid-diff. Natsu join the battle and win high-diff in 1v1.
14 - Gildarts has returned to Ishgar with the intention of facing Serena because of his title but he realizes that Fairy Tail is in the middle of a war. Gildarts start to attack without knowing that Serena is a good guy and tells him that he is there to steal his title and will end the war. Serena tells him that he's not the most powerful mage on the battlefield and there is a more powerful mage than him who is a real enemy unlike him, and offers to confront him once the war is over but they must first defeat August. Gildarts agrees to ally with Serena.
15 - Erza, Jellal, Laxus & Wendy fight against Eileen. Team wins extreme-diff.
16 - August fight against Gildarts & Serena + Cana. August wins high-diff but decide to stop taking part on the war because of Mavis speech.

1. God Serena is not killed by Acnologia, instead he, August, and Jacob leave together after he stomps GOI.
2. All of God Serena's elements are shown and utilized. He has Cavern Dragon, Sea King Dragon, Gale Dragon, Purgatory Dragon, Thunder King Dragon, Artic Dragon, Holy Dragon (Light), and Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic
3. Cana does not one-shot a sneezing Brandish, instead Brandish brutally murderstomps Lucy and Cana, when she goes to organbust Lucy she is thrown back by a torrent of water, upon standing she sees Aquarius holding onto Lucy, pointing her palm at her.
4. Brandish goes back to Fairy Tail willingly with Cana and Lucy after Aquarius shows her the truth. She does not get locked in a cell.
5. Rather than being indecisive Brandish due to Aquarius's influence decides to align herself with Fairy Tail after seeing how pointless the war is.
6. Base Dimaria stomps Wendy and Sherria, Chronos Dimaria mid-diffs Third Origin Sherria, but decides to let them live, Ultear is in shock that her Third Origin failed, asking herself if the Spriggans can truly be defeated.
7. Laxus kills Wahl and defeats Historia Hades, but is too injured to fight Dimaria, Hargeon is lost.
8. After telling Kagura that he has one last sin he has to commit Jellal uses Abyss Break to kill Neinhart then proceeds to use Grand Chariot to destroy Neinhart's ships.
9. Before she vanishes Ur tells Gray and Lyon how proud she is of them.
10. Mest does not follow Brandish, Lucy, and Natsu, therefore Brandish and Lucy successfully convince August not to fight. Brandish returns to the guildhall with Lucy and Natsu to Mest's annoyance.
11. Gajeel still defeats Bloodman but is killed during the fight.
12. Before Gray and Juvia attempt to kill themselves Minerva arrives, using her Territory to deal with Invel's Ice-Lock, Minerva, Gray, and Juvia extreme-diff Invel.
13. God Serena meets with Dimaria and is told that Hargeon was a success, the duo are confronted by Crime Sorciere, the duo mid-diff and set off for Fairy Tail to meet with Zeref and the others

She tells them about Larcade and asks them for help in defeating him.
16. Ajeel fights Elfman, Mirajane, Hyberion, and Warrod, the team high-diffs.
17. God Serena fights Team Natsu and is low-diffing until Gildarts arrives, Gildarts and God Serena clash. God Serena high-diffs Gildarts.
18. Sting, Rogue, Yukino, Sorano, and Brandish fight Larcade, the team extreme-diffs, Brandish uses her Command T to make all of their attacks larger.
19. Orga, Meredy, Kagura, Minerva, Ultear, and Lyon fights Dimaria, Dimaria mid-diffs.
20. Gildarts confronts Dimaria after her victory, Gildarts mid-diffs Chronos-Dimaria.
21. Erza and Wendy fights Irene, but they are murderstomped, before she can kill them a multcolored barrier appears, Jellal joins the fight.
22. Irene stomps Erza, Wendy, and Jellal, but realizes that she can steal Wendy's body, as she does her power greatly diminishes.
23. Wendy Belserion is high-diffing Jellal and Erza until Wendy wakes up in Irene's body, as Wendy Belserion is being overwhelmed by an attack coming from her own body Wendy tells Erza and Jellal to take Irene down, explaining that her body is gone and that she does not know how to replicate the Enchantment Irene used. The trio mid-diffs Wendy Belserion.
24. As the battle ends Acnologia arrives, with a smirk he looks at Wendy who is in Irene's body, he notes that she's the one who created Dragon Slayer Magic, with a twisted smirk he calls her mother, but before he can kill Wendy a huge multicolored attack flies at him, forcing him to jump back, in great surprise he notes that it was an attack utilizing eight elements, before he can say another word eight large multicolored Dragons fly from under him, God Serena falls from the sky and lands in front of the trio, pointing at Acnologia he explains why he ditched Ishgar. And states that a God has decended, gaining a laugh from Acnologia.
25. Wendy Belserion saves Jellal, God Serena, Wendy, and Erza with an enchantment, gaining Acnologia's attention who promptly one-shots her by nearly ripping her in half, horrifying the four mages.
26. God Serena and Jellal attacks Acnologia, he allows them to and reacts similarly as to the Manga, as God Serena and Jellal release their most powerful spells Acnologia laughs and eats the combined attack, revealing that he's the Dragon of Magic, shocking everyone, God Serena falls to his knees, realizing and vocalizing how outclassed they are.
27. As they get onto the Christina God Serena agrees to align himself with them in order to take down Acnologia, he explains that that was his goal all along, his reason of betraying Ishgar, he expresses regret for betraying his homeland and even apologizes. but he is reassured by Erza that it isn't too late for him to redeem himself, stating that if he helps them take down Zeref and Acnologia she will put in a good word for him, God Serena agrees, officially siding with Ishgar again.
28. God Serena and Jellal both attack Dragon Acnologia, God Serena using his Gale Dragon Slayer Magic to allow himself to fly, they are ineffective and are quick to be taken out, when Jellal is grabbed by Acnologia God Serena attempts to save him, but Jellal is thrown at him, knocking them both into the water, Acnologia is still pushed into the rift.
29. When the seven Dragon Slayers fight Acnologia they are utterly stomped with no hope in victory, God Serena uses his elements to feed all of the Dragon Slayers, keeping them fresh and strong and Wendy stands back, using what enchantments she knows to empower them, due to this Acnologia swiftly takes both Wendy and God Serena out (but not killing them). Natsu expresses fear and hopelessness, but all of the Dragon Slayers are shocked when they see a golden Fairy Tail emblem forming in front of him, Acnologia realizes that he cannot move but is then covered in a light golden sphere, when it vanishes Acnologia is also gone, sealed within Fairy Sphere.
30. After Acnologia and Zeref's defeat Erza true to her word put in a good word for God Serena and implored the King to pardon him, explaining that he only wanted to kill Acnologia. Crime Sorciere and God Serena are both pardoned by Queen Hisui and God Serena as a show of good faith is regranted his title as the top ranked Wizard Saint by Hyberion and Hisui both.
31. Brandish and Dimaria joins Fairy Tail.
32. Ajeel takes rule of Alvarez with August as his head advisor.
33. Laxus becomes Fairy Tails Ninth Guild Master in honor of his grandfather.

Maybe Zeref knew because Ivan knew, Opra was a member of Raven Tail and according to the Wiki Ivan and the others didn't know what he truly looked like and thought he simply was the puppet that he controlled. Now that I think of it, considering Opra sat on Zeref's shoulder while he was watching the Fairy Tail guild he may have been Zeref's spy who likely thought Raven Tail would be easier for him to infiltrate and manipulate than Fairy Tai, which to be fair, if Opra infiltrated Fairy Tail, the Fairy Heart is so hush-hush he never would have found out, so infiltrating Raven Tail would be the smarter decision for Zeref to manipulate.

By chronological order (I know it won't be totally accurate):

1. Instead of a simple face-off, Lucy and Cana will fight Brandish. The latter will low-diff them during this fight, which will be interrupted by Ajeel's sandstorm. After Ajeel's defeat, Cana will knock out a sneezing Brandish, as in canon.
2. Ajeel will face Juvia, Wendy and Carla, instead of Erza. As Fairy Tail wizards know his magic, they will team up people with most advantages again him. Girls will give Ajeel a good fight (Juvia will use Water Make Magic) but then he will use his sandstorm and give a lot of trouble to them. Bisca will snipe him due to her instinct. Wendy and Juvia will then deafeat Ajeel with an Unison Raid, combining Sky Dragon's Roar + Water Cyclone.
3. As in canon, Natsu and Gajeel will fight Ajeel's troops, **but this time without Wendy but with Erza's and Gray's help.
4. Mira, Elfman and Lisanna will defeat, as in canon, Wall's soldiers, by switching up opponents but this time without Gray and Juvia.
5. Fake! Wall's fight remains the same.
6. Natsu and Zeref's fight remains the same.
7. Brandish-Lucy-Aquarius scene occurs like in canon.
8. God Serena didn't low-diffs Gods of Ishgar. Instead, they give a lot more trouble and he is forced to use a Dragon Slayer Secret Art to defeat them. Acnologia didn't show himself, then God Serena isn't killed.
9. Erza, Gray, Wendy, Juvia and Laxus go at Hargeon like in canon while Gajeel, Levy, Lily, Mirajane, Elfman and Lisanna went to North.
10. Hargeon's side: Wendy and Chelia fight Dimaria, Ultear comes in, Dimaria actives her God Soul: Chronos, Ultear uses Third Origin on Chelia, **the latter extreme-diffs Chronos-Dimaria. She losts permanently her magic.
11. Laxus confronts Wall Icht and defeats him like in canon with Red Lightning Dragon Mode.
12. Natsu and Lucy fight Jacob, after Lucy released all Fairy Tail members with Gemini Star Dress, they defeat him with an Unison Raid: Fire Dragon's Shining Impact.
13. Erza, Jellal and Kagura's fight against Ninehart occurs almost like in canon, the only change will be that Jellal uses Abyss Break to almost kill Ninehart after seeing Erza grievously injured.
14. Wendy vs Historia! Ezel, Laxus vs Historia! Hades, Juvia and Meredy vs Historia! Keyes and Historia! Zancrow occurs like in canon while **Historia!Ur vs Gray and Lyon fight will end by Historia!Ur telling to Gray and Lyon how she is proud of them.
15. As in canon, Natsu, Lucy, Brandish and Mest leaves guild to negotiate with August, Mest alter Brandish's memories in order to kill August, the latter enter in his "red rage mode" (this how I call this form)
16. Gajeel vs Bloodman will occur like in canon.
17. Irene and Acnologia will fight a little** before the Scarlet Despair uses Universe One.
18. Juliet and Heine won't give trouble to Mira, she will one-shot them with Alegria Form from the beginning. Then Irene appears, she attacks Mira, the latter gives her a decent fight before getting one-shot by August.
19. After August & Brandish pick up Irene and Larcade pick up Dimaria, the Spriggan 12 reunites as in canon
20. Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, Juvia and Happy are reunited with each other and attacks Alvarez Army. They are joined by other Fairy Tail wizards and other guilds.
21. Mirajane attacks Jacob and beats him easily by using Satan Soul: Kyoka, she amplify all his senses to make him suffer at hell, then he is unable to fight.
22. Elfman's and Lisanna's fight against Ajeel remains the same.
23. Rogue and Minerva fight Historia! Bloodman and Historia! Wall, however, **Rogue will enter in Dragon Force and Minerva in Neo-Minerva form.
24. God Serena then appears and attacks the wizards. All his elements are shown and used: Gale Dragon (Wind), Sea King Dragon (Water), Cavern Dragon (Earth), Purgatory Dragon (Fire), Voltage Dragon (Lightning), Arctic Dragon (Ice), Holy Dragon (Light) and Darkness (Shadow) Dragon Slayer Magic. Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, Wendy, Juvia and Loke fights him and casts an Unison Raid to finish him. God Serena is slightly injured and casts a new Secret Art. Gildarts shown himself and destroys Serena's spell. Their fight is much longer because Serena isn't an Historia but Gildarts ends the fight by high-diffing Serena.
25. Natsu, Lucy, Gray and Juvia are confronted to Invel. As in canon, Brandish takes Natsu, Lucy and Happy with her. Gray begins to fights Invel with Juvia's help. Then Lyon comes in and helps Gruvia. Gray enters in Devil Slayer Mode and tries to eat Invel's ice but Invel is revealed to be a Ice God Slayer. He no-diff Gray, Juvia and Lyon and use Ice-Lock on Gruvia while Lyon is unconscious. JUvia decides to sacrifices herself, she saves Gray with Water Make: Blood, Gray enters on Rage Mode because of Juvia's "death" and absolutely destroys Invel.
26. As in canon, Ninehart, enchanted by Irene, will attack Natsu's group and Brandish, he will get one-shot by Natsu. Brandish will amplify Natsu's tumor's size, then he pass out. Lucy will begins to fight her as in canon, but their fight will become longer, Brandish won't hold back and Lucy will summon more spirits, use more Star Dresses, and even cast Urano Metria. After used her strongest spell, Lucy will run out of magic power and almost pass out while Brandish will decide to stop to fight, although she could beat Lucy. Dimaria then comes in, stabs Brandish and kidnaps Natsu and Lucy.
27. Dimaria tries to kills Lucy as in canon, the latter passes out and wakes up a few moments later, to see Dimaria who get destroyed by Natsu, who become END. Porlyussica, Brandish and Evergreen then arrives.
28. Natsu (in a full END form) encounters Gray (under demon's control). Their fight is much longer and violent than canon.
29. During this time, Makarov will use Fairy Law and will stay dead after its use.
30. Jellal and Crime Sorcière will get destroyed by August as in canon.
31. Lucy and Juvia (who was saved by Wendy) will interrupt Natsu and Gray's fight, instead of Erza.
32. Natsu, Gray and Juvia all pass out, as in canon. Then Irene appears and attacks them. Lucy, Happy and Carla leave with Natsu, Gray and Juvia unconscious while Erza and Wendy will stay here to fight with Irene.
33. Larcade battle occurs like in canon.
34. Irene fights Erza and Wendy. It occurs like in canon until Wendy recover her body. She enchant Erza, Jellal, who escapes from August, then comes in the fight and helps her (Erza) to fight the Scarlet Despair. Irene goes in her dragon form and breaks all Erza's bones. Jellal become angry and tries to attack Irene, who no-diff him. She casts Deus Sema. Jellal destroys the meteor by using his own Sema xD. Wendy then enchant Erza and Jellal to give them Dragon Slayer abilities. They hurt Irene who come back to her human form. Jerza try to fight Irene but they are too weakened to do anything. Irene is ready to kill them but Erza smiles and she (Irene) remember her when she was baby. Then she stabs herself but Wendy, by how kind she is, decides to save her and pass out after using all her magical power. Irene heals Jerza and Wendy with her enchantments and leaves.
35. August battle happens like in canon.
36. Natsu dreams about other Dragon Slayers and Zeref and learns more about his past. But none dream about Igneel and Dragon/Demon Seed.
37. Universe One is then cancelled by Irene.
38. Jellal spawns directly at guildhall (while Erza and Wendy appears somewhere at Magnolia) and confronts Zeref. He gives him a decent but short fight before getting interrupt by Gray's arrival.The latter tries to use Lost Iced Shell as in canon but is stopped by Natsu, who's with Lucy and Happy. Gray, Jellal, Lucy and Happy leaves, letting Natsu with Zeref.
39. The Fire Dragon Slayer begins to fights Zeref. When Larcade arrives, he is very angry to see Natsu and attacks him. Zeref is really happy to see his two most powerful Etherious fighting each other but finish by brutally one-shot Larcade and kill him. Natsu gets angry because Zeref killed his own comrade. Their fight continues until Zeref gets Fairy Heart. Then Natsu is stomped as in canon and is almost killed.
40. On Lucy's side, Jellal leaves to return with Erza. She rewrite END's book, which allow Natsu to stand up. Then he falls under END's control and overpowers Zeref, who gets destroyed by his most powerful Etherious. Lucy is almost dying but is saved by Gray's Devil Slayer Magic. Then she runs towards the guildhall to find Natsu, who's always under END's control. He brutally attacks her while she tries to bring him back to his senses. Gray tries to protect Lucy, but he can do nothing. Then Lucy hugs Natsu, whispering to him some words (ask me what in the comments and I will let you know).
41. Christina-Acnologia chase scene happens the same way as canon, except the beginning. As Irene isn't dead, Acnologia won't stomp her corpse but he will attack Erza, Wendy and Jellal anyway.
42. Dragon Slayers are absorbed by Acnologia's spirit in Time Rift and begin to fight him. They all enter in Dragon Force (even Gajeel, Cobra and God Serena) and significantly damage him with Unison Raids.
43. At Harujion, Ishgar mages are fighting with Acno's body until Irene appears. She enchant them with Dragon Slayer abilities, so they would be able to damage Acnologia's body.Lucy then have the idea of Fairy Sphere and actives it. Thanks to Meredy, all Ishgar's wizards give Lucy their magic, which is enough to weaken Acnologia.
44. Irene use a very strong spell to bring back Dragon Slayers and Acnologia, who is really angry about this and begin to destroy everything around him.
45. Irene, helped by Wendy, use one of her most powerful enchantments, Deus Draco to turn Natsu into a dragon, which exhausts her at hell. Dragon Natsu fights a weakened Acnologia and kills him by the same way he killed Igneel.
46. About epilogue, I won't change it except I will make Erza/Laxus Ninth Guild Master, Crime Sorcière will be disbanded and I will confirm main ships as NaLu, Gruvia, Jerza and GaLe but also side ships like Miraxus and StingYu.

Fully agree. Serena has fire, lightning, tempest, and cavern dragon slaying magic and four others. He would be able to tank Natsu, Wendy, and Laxus attacks and has magic that counters them, well Natsu and Wendy. And again he stomped the GOI when he got a bit serious, and at that point of the story I would put those guys above Cobra, Wendy, and Rogue. Sting is debatable. So, the fight wouldn't be lopsided, though I'll give the seven of them the edge.

No way Laxus or Gajeel beat him 1 v 1, that's ridiculous

Laxus not only beats GS 1v1, he likely walks away the new Hyrbid dragon. Not gunna lie, that right there is my rewrite. Acno puts him down, August proves he can use magic after the fact by pulling up any of the numerous healing spells he’s been exposed to over the years and reviving him from the brink of Death. Preferably with some kind of cocoon, or explanable delayed reaction healing. An when he shows up, it’s not a historia but true Serena. An it’s not Gildarts who counters him, he shows up specifically for August. It’s Laxus. We get the Laxus on the back foot but forced to overcome it fight we genuinely wanted, without him being really nerfed (sick) just genuinely faced with an opponent who can counter him and make him work for it again. An he manages to overcome it by one of two ways.

A) pulls a Gajeel and copies Natsu absorbing his lightning to become a new hybrid dragon. Therefore ensuring that the future master of FT is an Archmagus well versed enough to train all his future guild members in whatever magic they might excel in like his Grandfather before him.

B) He pulls out RL again, this time turning it into a mode that allows him to actually deal damage past GS lightning immunity, as he fights his way to a hard won victory like against Jura in GMG, just more fleshed out and longer lasting like the fight we thought we’d get, sans handicap.
