The Block A matches of the first round are over. The Bible of Naniwa, Shiraishi Kuranosuke, managed to secure an early lead against Kite Eishirou, and despite the Hitman starting a comeback, Shiraishi moves on to the next round with 8 votes to 6. Shishido did what Kite couldn't and managed to pull off a last minute victory against Kikumaru Eiji (5 - 4). In doubles, Miyako and Yanagi took the lead against Oishi/Momoshiro and defended it to the end, they won their match 5 - 3.

With the conclusion of Block A, we now move on to Block D with the following matches:
Singles - High Tier: Kaidou Kaoru vs Momoshiro Takeshi
Singles - Low Tier: Akutagawa Jirou vs Amane Hikaru
Doubles: Oshitari Kenya / Oshitari Yuushi vs Nakagauchi Sotomichi / Yagyuu Hiroshi

How in hell did Kikumaru lose to Shishido in Singles?
Didn't Kikumaru eventually gain stamina above Shishido's and Ootori's at Nationals?

The reason Shishido lost is because eventually, Ootori broke his serve. That's the only way to lose in a tie-break after 6-6.
So Ootori is better than Shishido slightly for any reference.

Kikumaru can use Seal Step, so really and truly I don't see Shishido taking him out.
The Motion Vision, The Bazooka, I mean sure the Rising Counter allows him to cope with the smashes but its not Doubles where he can run around with Ootori covering for him.

Kikumaru has the ability to run around with with well... Kikumaru covering for him... through the Seal Step so this is all in Kikumaru's favour.

Tell me why you would see Shishido beating Viking Horn? He can't read where the shot will land.
Tell me why he can return Habu on serves and Smashes?
If it worked on Regionals!Fuji for some games then its gonna work on Shishido. That's a fact.

UNLESS... There are people on here who would like to say something like I dunno... Shishido > Regionals!Fuji.

Damn. One match that I miss and its one where my vote would have changed everything.
I'd like people to just explain to me how in hell Kikumaru doesn't win there.

Wait no there's more.
Ootori lost to a 6thCourt dude. There is no mention of Kikumaru losing to any HSer during that space of time.
Ootori who took out Shishido and broke his serve and had his own serve untouched, lost a 6thCourt guy lol.

Kikumaru got to 6thCourt with no problem as far as we know.

Honestly. How do we work out that Shishido Ryou wins here...
I'm assuming everybody here thinks that Shishido will beat Akutagawa Jirou in Singles then if you think he can beat Kai Yuujiro and Kikumaru Eiji in Singles lmao.

Next up is Block C with the following matches:
Singles - High Tier: Tachibana Kippei vs Kirihara Akaya
Singles - Low Tier: Kai Yuujirou vs Sengoku Kiyosumi

If you want to include Kaidou's mindset as Momoshiro's rival, I see no reason to exclude Momoshiro's mindset.
I then said against any general player as oppose to specific player.

I have already addressed this issue. Hara and Taira clearly aimed at Momoshiro, the blood in his face is proof of that. As a result, Momoshiro naturally also got more opportunities to hit BJK. On the other hand, even if you say that Kaidou would try to return BJK, he certainly wouldn't target Momoshiro like that, it goes against his playstyle and the purpose of his various special moves.
Momoshiro was able to hit BJK regardless of whether or not Taira/Hara aimed at him. His ability to land Jack Knifes in matches no matter the circumstance is highly notable and it would be borderline delusional if you think Kaidoh can avoid a bunch of BJK's in a 1 set match let alone a game.

He could against Yushi, and in terms of technique, its highly likely Yushi has higher technique.
Momoshiro was hitting Jack Knife prior to BJK against Taira/Hara, also, despite aiming for his face, its clear they were aiming to brutalise him and were not aiming for him to try out his BJK on them.
They weren't testing Momo's BJK, they were trying to render him unable to play.
But Momoshiro clearly managed to sustain and endure their attempts and land BJK's.

Remembering Bakyuun is a shot like the Lasers, This match is all in Momoshiro's favour to win. Or rather, its extremely hard for Momo to lose.

This is irrelevant. The point isn't which level Oni was at with a 2 string racket, but the fact that he went easy on Momoshiro. Saying Momoshiro tricked Oni only holds value when Oni tried his hardest as well.
Irrelevant is a strong word. It was a Gimp!Oni.
If you still value what Kite did against a Gimp!Tezuka then how can you not value the efforts of Momo against a Gimp!Oni?
That's unfair.

No, we don't know that. We only know that Momoshiro was able to hit BJK when Hara/Taira aimed at him, we don't have any information on whether or not he would have been able to do so if they hadn't. My argument is that Momoshiro was able to hit BJK in that situation because they aimed at him, not despite of it.

Remembering Bakyuun is a shot like the Lasers, This match is all in Momoshiro's favour to win. Or rather, its extremely hard for Momo to lose.
How do you figure that it has anything in common with the Lasers? It didn't seem that fast to me.

And why does this matter?
Well, Airgrimes is talking about Kaidoh's mental, it does matter.

On the other hand "would Momoshiro really be willing to hit BJK in a way that it actually injures Kaidou?" is more of a specific thing rather than something general about his mental. Personal relationships shouldn't really be taken into consideration, both of the players should be going all in no matter his rival.

---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 PM ----------

Also, just like Oishi didn't let Kikumaru lose points on porpuse, I don't think that Kaidoh would like the idea of playing against Momo with 50 % strength BJKs...

BJK is one of those move that does damage because it's so powerful not because it's purposely trying to hurt someone, so I don't see why Momoshiro would hold back.

Actually, Momoshiro leapt forward to hit his Jack Knife earlier on in the match when they weren't specifically aiming at him.
The shots weren't aimed at Momoshiro for him to hit, they were at his face.
We can assume that is Hara's Play Style as he sent a Moukohan straight for Kenya's body.

Kenya is unable to react, whereas Momoshiro is able to return it with BJK. Just the fact that Momoshiro/Kenya pair won in the end, means that he can confidently hit BJK against high level opponents.
It is more likely that Taira/Hara were trying to win the match as oppose to hitting shots for Momoshiro to BJK them with.
I highly doubt Taira/Hara were committing sporting suicide there.

How do you figure that it has anything in common with the Lasers? It didn't seem that fast to me.
For me it was the unusual spin it seems to have. Lasers have an unusual spin, well, two of them do.

Yes, exactly. My point is that they were hitting their shots close to his body in order to injure him. Kaidou wouldn't do that however, his shots are meant to avoid the opponent.

I see. It didn't appear that fast to me because Momoshiro could move into the opposite direction, but still get his racket on it. That said there are definitely shots in this series that have a strong spin and aren't known for their speed.

I would say that only Hara was aiming it at him. Taira wasn't specifically aiming to injure the opponent imo.
Taira and Hara had/have rather different play styles. I say "had" since they are essentially going to be pure and absolute fodder from now on it seems.
