No, he was a main~
I remember one of my old english teachers in highschool would drill everyone on who was a main character and who wasn't anytime we would read anything~

could/would you paraphrase/explain what your high school teacher drilled into you about main vs support characters? It might be interesting to hear it :D Another viewpoint/source for us to consider :D

personally, it (a high school english teacher) would be more authoritative/legitimate than wikipedia entries on a main vs support character. As an English teacher they'd know best what's a main character and a support character :D

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

Basically he just drilled into use the difference between Contributions in the work and time spent in the book... just because the character has the most time in the book or the most attention, doesn't necessarily mean that the character is a main character.

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

There are still a few days left before the second round of the nomination process comes to an end, so don’t forget to visit the various individual threads and support your favorite nominees by voting for them in the polls! :)

There are some categories in which one vote could make the difference between a nominee moving on to the next phase of the awards or having to say good-bye to the contest once and for all.

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

Is it possible to add the name ( at least the main ones ) of the characters voiced by the seiyu. I'm already bad with names...

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

A great idea :) Probably easier to link to the seiyuu profiles on MAL or somewhere, though. I'd take care of it now if it wasn't 3am, so if someone doesn't get to it before me, I'll do that tomorrow :tem

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

The second round of the nomination process has come to an end. Thank you to all the members who participated in this round by voting for their favorite nominees! :) For some categories the final 5 official nominees have been decided thanks to your votes and to this second round; however, for those categories where there is still a tie despite this second round of the nomination process, the decision of which series move on and what series get eliminated will be made by the members of the staff in charge of the MH Anime Awards.

You can see the results for each category by visiting each of the individual threads. A list with all of the final nominees for each category (in other words, a list with all the nominees that will move on to the voting process) will be posted soon.

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

Well I was pretty happy to see that things that actually deserved to be there, were there when the Nomination thing started, now as I look through the official lists.(Some which seem differ from before ...?)
I began to get sad at some of the results......

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

The list of the official nominees looks different now because last time I posted the list not all the categories had the 5 official nominees. That is why there was a second round for the nomination process. The nominees we have now are the result of two nomination rounds. It is true that some of the nominees were eliminated even though they also deserved to be part of the final round (a.k.a voting process), but I’m glad that other nominees did survive and are now fighting for the chance to win in their respective categories. :)

Everyone, don't forget that there's a page 2! There are even more categories on page 2 so don't forget to vote in those as well :amuse As with the Manga Awards, feel free to discuss your votes in the individual threads and share why you voted for a certain series/character/event/song/etc over another :tem

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

For old school anime, the choices aren't that old school for me, DBZ actually introduced me to anime/manga, heard it being talked/discussed about by friends while in high school, and I've never stopped watching/reading anime/manga since, hehe :D

(I wish I knew about anime/manga earlier, not knowing about anime/manga until mid-late teens, is depressing, sighs)

maybe, for old school, we could do year ranges: the 00's, 90's, the 80's and etc? for the different generation of peoples :D

Re: The MangaHelpers Anime Awards Discussion Thread

Lol, I know what you mean Hege! Like I was talking to my boss the other day (he's a 30+-year-old Japanese man) and he was reminiscing what to him is old school anime - Mobile Suit Gundam (as in the one in the 1970s), Kochi Kame...

But on the whole I think most of us are in approximately the same generation (late teens, twenties), so what is considered old school to us is roughly the same. The only factor that might affect might be when we started watching anime. Like for you, it was in high school, but for me it was kindergarten :p
